Movie #3 – Holiday. I’m in possession of a DVD of this 1936 black-and-white film with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn. Most people I ask have never heard of this film. It’s an oldie, for sure. I watch it each year to see the physical fluidity of both these magnificent actors alone and the chemistry created between them.
Two unconventional characters rise above the stifling conventional expectations of NYC bluebloods. I wish I had met Phillip Barry, the writer of the play from which Holiday was adapted. The questions I’d ask: Is this autobiographical? Which character are you? and more. Best line–Linda Seton (Hepburn) exiting her golden prison, “Try and stop me. Somebody just try and stop me.”
Got me thinking about the people and things I treasure and some people, places, and things I can let go of in 2017. It’s going to be a great year!
