I welcomed 2026 with the mindset of a NEW beginning. In spite of the turmoil in our state, country, and the world, I do something every morning to keep my equilibrium, inner resolve, and humor intact. Troubling thoughts and images intrude. I’m trying (really hard) to let them drift across my radar. It ain’t easy.

Three actions I chose the other day were like spiritual companions:

Eat breakfast with Hank; then read (We’re rereading Jack Kornfield’s A Path with Heart ) and talk of gratitude with said sweetheart.

Step onto my mat to exercise.

(Meditation sign by Sammie Alijagic)

Meditate. To close my mat time I chose a card from my Rodney Yee Yoga card deck,  (which I think is out of print; but available used). His instructions are clear. His closing on each card is pure poetry:

The solitude of sitting allows us to touch the expanse of the universe. What we are doing here is honing the mind.

I looked up the word. Hone: to refine or perfect over a period of time. Love that. No rush. No pressure. Just steady attention. EZ Does it.
The rest of my day was very smooth.
