Saturday December 7
Get a boost of the holiday mood at Tellers of Tales. 9:30-11:30 AM at Unscrewed Theater 4500 E Speedway #39. The open mic portion of the program welcomes your stories for Holiday Family Memories.
I’ll be at the mic sharing “Saving Christmas.” That does sound like kind of a grandiose title. Is it a call to reaffirm a traditional or the religious meaning of Christmas?
Just what is a Christmas holiday mood?
Or is it more like Kris Kringle’s take on Christmas?
With the Kris Kringle mood, it seems like there is more of a “Hey, hi there! Everything is gonna be ok” vibe floating around. Couldn’t come at a more opportune time. My “Saving Christmas” is how the Kris Kringle perspective worked in my house. It’s a relationship story, that is lightly humorous, now that it’s in the past.
I’m also pleased to present a short version of S.P.E.A.K.- 5 Concepts That Can Help Make You a Star in Storytelling ( or any presentation). A brief how-to so your story clicks with the audience from the book page to the stage. Tips to use: Speaking styles, Posture/body language, the speaking Environment – stage, living room, sofa, podium, lunch table. Bringing an Attitude of confidence that can shift with the mood of the story. And kindness– to connect with those emotions that promote empathy, inspiration, motivation, gratitude. Hint: If you want to be funny- only poke fun at yourself. Come join us to find out more.
TOT meets on the first Saturday of every month at the Unscrewed Theater from 9:30am to 11:30 am. Founded in 1979, Tellers of Tales is an Arizona non-profit (501 (c) 3 organization.
