Our world is opening up and the Eastside Writing Room is a part of that.

July – we’ll be Zooming every Tuesday 11:30 AM-12:15 PM to state our writing intentions, then write (at home, at the cafe, in the park)  for at least our usual time of two hours – or more. The weekly zoom check-ins are a certainly a boost to me to keep seated and write after we’ve finished our zoom. We’ve been Zooming since April 2020 when the pandemic tried to stifle our writing spirit.

Adult writers welcome. This group is not for readings, or critique. It’s a subtle but powerful “cheerleading” session. “Here’s my plan for today and what I want to do.”  Raucous virtual applause. Nods of agreement, choruses of “Yes, you can do this.” “What a great idea!”  “How will you start?” – all that and more to stir up the writing energy. If you are a writer, dabbler, published, just starting, and this interests you, contact Ethel

Mark your calendar: July 6, 13, 20, 27- writing day.

Hybrid meeting – July 27- Zoom 11:30 AM-12:00 PM and continuing the meeting by writing in person at my home. Contact Ethel if you are interested. Attend one or the other, or do both.

“Finally, one just has to shut up, sit down, and write.”  Natalie Goldberg

I’m reading the 30th anniversary edition of Natalie Goldberg’s Writing Down the Bones. This was the first book I read on writing in the early 1990s. Her essays still sing with sincerity and strength.
